Some users have reported to IT that they are having difficulty logging into Blackboard and consistently are presented with a login error screen. IT has identified the cause of this issue, which is the result of users not properly logging out of their Blackboard session. This login problem only occurs when users keep their browsers open for multiple hours or sometime days without closing the browser completely. To avoid future login issues on Blackboard, please follow these steps for logging out properly after each session:
1. Locate the Logout button( ) in the upper right corner of your browser and select it.
2. Locate the End SSO Session button ( ) on the page that appears and select it.
Taking these suggested steps will help users avoid login issues in the future. It is also important with all of our systems such as Self Service and Office 365, to make sure you also logout of those systems after each use.
If you do encounter a Blackboard login error screen (Click here for example). The best way to correct this issue is to completely close all of your open browser windows/tabs and attempt a new login at https://hood.blackboard.com after re-opening your browser.

User Name and Password Information:
Blackboard users need to login using their Hood College e-mail.
For example: abc01@hood.edu
Using your Hood assigned username, for example "abc01" or prefixing your account with "pergola\abc01" or "hood\username" will result in a failed login attempt to Blackboard.
If you have issues with logging into Blackboard, please contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@hood.edu or 301-696-3622 .
Reasons why your password may not work:
- User is trying to use a pre-existing internal Blackboard password which is different from their current Hood/Pergola Network password.
- User has not used their Hood/Pergola Network account recently/ever and do not remember/know their Network password.
- Users account is locked and will require a reset by the IT Help Desk. Please contact the IT Help Desk at 301-696-3622 or helpdesk@hood.edu
